Casabel makes use of the bi-directional, global, real time Iridium Short Burst Data (SBD) service in combination with GPS. Oceanographic and environmental instrument mooring professionals have greater control in instantly and accurately locating and recovering high value, free drifting mooring assets at sea.

SABLE Sub Surface Mooring
Marker: NOW RATED AT 5000m The Sable Subsurface Iridium Satellite Mooring Location Beacon continuously monitors for unplanned or accidental release of subsurface instrument moorings. Sable makes use of the bi-directional, global, real time Iridium satellite Short Burst Data (SBD) network in combination with GPS position location. Oceanographic and environmental instrument mooring professionals have greater control in instantly and accurately locating and recovering high value, free drifting assets at sea. Sable’s sleek tubular design allows it to be easily retrofitted into subsurface flotation such as syntactic foam.

MELO Surface Mooring Marker: Melo is an independently powered, self-contained satellite transceiver packaged in a ruggedized, UV protected marine grade housing suitable for attachment to various surface buoys and navigational markers. Melo makes use of the low power, real time Iridium satellite constellation and GPS to reliably transmit the buoy's position automatically or on demand at any time. Melo’s one piece, user replaceable battery pack is designed to provide three years of normal reporting or over 3000 bi-directional messages. Melo data is delivered via the email-based Short Burst Message (SBD) Iridium service making Melo easy to use and less expensive than traditional one-way satellite watch circle services.
