Applications

DST milli-T is ideal as a stand-alone logger for temperature recordings.  The miniature temperature logger is used in various research projects for collecting temperature in rivers, lakes and oceans.  With the small size, it can also be used for various research projects measuring temperature in liquids such as beverages, water, salt water, antifreeze liquids, break fluid, oil, diesel and gasoline. Star-Oddi offers a protective housing specially designed for the DST milli-T, made of polyurethane plastic. 

DST milli-T white housing is specially designed for tagging fish for analysing fish migration, distribution, feeding behavior, vertical  and horizontal movements.  DST milli-T can be implanted into the fish or fastened externally. When used on fish or animals, customers can define their own text that is burnt into the housings. The housing is made of bio-compatible material, which does not endanger the health of the tagged animal. The non-transparent housing ensures that the sunlight does not affect the measuring and therefore provides more reliable temperature data.

Easy to use

DST milli is supported by the SeaStar software for Windows, and a communication box which connects to a PC computer.  All communications and data transfer is wireless via the communication box.  Prior to usage, and for data retrieval, the DST is inserted into the box for establishing communication through the SeaStar software.  The user sets the start date/time and sampling interval.    The data is retrieved to a PC computer, using the communication box and software.  After retrieving the data, the DST can be re-programmed and reused as long as the battery lasts.

As a start kit you need one or more DST loggers, one communication box and the supporting software (SeaStar). We also offer protective housing for the loggers if the loggers are going to be used in fixed locations or in harsh environment.  The communication comes with a serial cable, but an optional USB converting plug is also available.
